ATTENTION!
NEW LOCATIONS FOR TOWN MEETINGS |
|
Because of Town Hall renovations, Town Council meetings are at the City Center in West Palm Beach at 401 Clematis.
The building is between Banyan & Clematis. Going South on Dixie, the garage entrance is on the right. Cost is $1 for the first 2 hours and $1 for each additional hour. Please allow plenty of time for travel and parking.

| TOWN BUDGET REVIEW TOMORROW |
|
The Town Council will consider the proposed Town budget on Tuesday, 6/16. The meeting will be held at the Central Fire Station EOC (3rd Floor) at 9:30 a.m. The budget draft requires no new taxes but forecasts a deficit starting in 2012. Click to see the budget proposal: Town Budget

| POINCIANA PLAYHOUSE PROPOSED REFERENDUM GOING TO JUDGE FOR DECISION |
|
The Town Council decided to ask a Circuit Court judge to decide if the proposed charter referendum language is constitutional. According to the legal opinion from the Town attorney, the proposed referendum "arguably conflicts with the state comprehensive planning law." See more on the story: Palm Beach Daily News

| TOWN REQUESTING STATE AND FEDERAL DOLLARS FOR DUNE RESTORATION |
|
The town is proposing to rebuild the dune systems in reaches 3, 4, 7 and 8. See more on the story: Palm Beach Daily News

| U.S. POSTAL SERVICE PUBLIC MEETING ABOUT MAIN POST OFFICE SALE |
|
The U.S. Postal Service held a public meeting last week. The Postal Service real estate specialist reported that an alternate Post Office location will be leased nearby and full retail service will not be interrupted. Mayor Jack McDonald said the Town will not acquire the property.. See more on the story: Palm Beach Daily News

| HISTORIC SITE RESEACH TO COST TOWN $50,000 |
|
The Town Council voted to update the 5 year Historic Site Survey. The project estimate is $50,000. There are 275 landmarked structures in town, which is roughly 10 percent of all the residences. The council typically landmarks about five structures each year. Click for More: Palm Beach Daily News

| HOLIDAY DECORATION PUBLIC REVIEW |
|
The Town will be having Christmas Designers, Inc. display a sample of proposed holiday decorations on two Royal Palm trees at the Memorial Fountain, as well as two street light poles located at Brazilian Avenue and South County Road. Decorations will be on display for one week, beginning the night of June 16th through June 23rd. Comments can be submitted either by calling the Public Works Department at 561-838-5440 or emailing your comments to pworks@townofpalmbeach.com.

| TOWN COUNCIL TO APPOINT PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEMBERS |

All citizens interested in pursuing this important civic service must complete an application and submit it to the Town Clerk by Friday, July 31, 2009 at 5:00 p.m. This appointment will be on the agenda for consideration and potential action at the Town Council meeting on August 11, 2009. | WATER HAS REACHED ABOVE-AVERAGE LEVELS |
|
The Month of May was the wettest month on record. The Everglades and aquifer filled to above average levels. Lake Okeechobee is at 11.78 ft., still down over a foot from historical averages but in good shape after a record drought. Water restrictions will stay at twice a week. More info: Palm Beach Post
