The Palm Beach Civic Association held its annual Holiday Party on Monday, Dec. 12, in the magnificent Circle Ballroom at The Breakers, where a festive crowd enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and holiday cheer.

Civic Association Holiday Party“It’s really the kickoff for the Civic Association’s season,” said Civic Association Director David A. Duffy, who chairs the association’s Public Safety Committee.  “The association is growing in popularity every year.  It’s exciting.”  “If you’re new in town, it’s a great way to meet people,” Mr. Duffy said.

The Civic Association received almost 400 RSVPs for the members-only event; an additional 100 names were placed on a waiting list.

As the capacity crowd mingled beneath a soaring 30-foot, frescoed ceiling, pops of festive red – a jacket, a skirt, a pocket square – caught the eye, with the occasional sequin sparkling in the warm glow of the Venetian crystal chandelier above.

Friends reconnecting upon their return to Palm Beach contributed a merry buzz of conversation to the holiday atmosphere.

As guests happily circulated, live music provided the accompaniment for both tête-à-têtes and table-wide chats.  Bob Wright, the chairman and CEO of the Civic Association, even took a brief turn at the keyboard, playing a progression of chords that served as his own introduction.
