In Memoriam

Norman P. Goldblum
1924-2015

The Palm Beach Civic Association is very grateful for the exceptional life and service of Civic Association Honorary Director Norman P. Goldblum who passed away suddenly this morning, July 20, 2015.

Norman P. Goldblum

Norman cared deeply about Palm Beach. He served as a councilman for the Town of Palm Beach for six years and on the Town of Palm Beach Medical Care Commission.

He served in the US Army Air Force 1942-46. He was vice president and treasurer of Spectro Industries in Jenkintown, PA, from which he retired in 1985 after helping to take the company public in the 1970s. He served as president of the Pennsylvania Drug Association and on the boards of the Philadelphia Drug Exchange and the National Wholesale Drug Association.

Norman and his wife Simone moved to Palm Beach in 1986.

Norman was on the board of Morse Life, past president of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County and Commodore of the US Naval Institute. He also founded Temple Shalom, the first Jewish congregation in Broomall, PA, and served as its first president.

Most recently, Norman served on the Palm Beach Civic Association’s Health Care Committee and was a council member of Scripps Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Simone, six children, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Norman Goldblum was a strong Civic Association supporter and our friend.  We will miss his happy disposition, his leadership, and his enthusiasm for Palm Beach. He was truly devoted to protecting and improving our special town.

I.J. Morris at the Star of David in West Palm Beach is in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Armory Art Center, 1700 Parker Ave., West Palm Beach or the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, 4601 Community Drive, West Palm Beach.  A memorial service is planned for late September.
