Town of Palm Beach Mayor Gail Coniglio introduced Mayor Jeri Muoio and said she had worked with the town to advocate for the Lake Worth Lagoon, keep a watchful eye on the Port of Palm Beach, and had helped with the ongoing Flagler Memorial Bridge replacement. In addition, Mayor Coniglio pointed out that Mayor Muoio has worked to protect Grassy Waters Preserve, the wetlands that serve as the main water source for both the city and the town.

Mayor Muoio began her talk by noting that the value of real estate in the city is rising to a projected $11.3 billion for fiscal year 2016/2017, up from $8.3 billion in 2013/2014. While that’s not back to the $12.7 billion of 2007, property values have risen steeply, with tax collections up nearly 13 percent in the past year as a result, she said.
