The Underground Utilities Referendum in Palm Beach passed by a narrow margin, 60 votes, according the Palm Beach Supervisor of Elections.

With all seven precincts in plus absentee and provisional ballots, the count was 50.70% (2,170) for the $90 million bond issue to finance the burial of all utility lines in town to 49.30% against (2,110).  Although there was light turnout reported during the day, final results showed 4,266 residents voted, more than 55% of the 7,532 registered voters in town.

Undergrounding Referendum Wins by Margin of 60 Votes

Town Clerk Susan Owens said she does not expect there will be a recount of Tuesday’s undergrounding bond referendum vote.
