By: R. Michael Brown, Civic Association Communication Director -- A brief rain-soaked ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on the new Flagler Memorial [North] Bridge at 9:20 a.m. with Palm Beach Mayor Gail Coniglio, Town Manager Tom Bradford, West Palm Mayor Jeri Muoio, FDOT officials, and local news crews.
“Regardless of the weather it's a beautiful day in the Town of Palm Beach,” Mayor Coniglio said in the rain during an interview with the Civic Association, as Tropical Storm Emily moved inland from the west coast of Florida.
“There have certainly been bumps along the way and achieving a smooth flow of traffic over the last five years has been an undertaking." said Mayor Coniglio. "We certainly celebrate the reopening of the Flagler Bridge.”

“I wish it had been done a little sooner, but it’s done now,” Mayor Muoio told the Civic Association. “We're excited because with this bridge opening about 37 percent of the traffic in our downtown will re-direct this way.”
“I can’t believe it’s finally open,” said Sally Kimball, owner of Classic Collections. “It’s a classic structure that will contribute to the revitalization that we are seeing in the Royal Poinciana business area.”
