The Flagler Memorial Bridge will have lane closures from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, and nightly lane closures 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, through Thursday, June 1, and from Sunday, June 4, through Thursday, June 8, with closures alternating between eastbound and westbound lanes. One lane will remain open during this time.
Flaggers will maintain two-way traffic in the remaining lane as the new fender system is installed.
The Flagler Memorial Bridge Replacement Project includes replacing the existing bascule (draw) bridge with a new bascule bridge connecting the Town of Palm Beach and the City of West Palm Beach over the Lake Worth Lagoon and the Intracoastal Waterway (ICWW). The Flagler Drive overpass is being replaced with an “at-grade” intersection. New lighting, pedestrian features, traffic signals, drainage, and landscaping are also included. Active construction began on Sept. 10, 2012, and will last until summer 2017. The estimated construction cost is $106 million.
