BREAKING NEWS: The Florida Department of Transportation has once again pushed forward the anticipated opening of the new Flagler Memorial Bridge — this time to Dec. 19.

That’s two weeks beyond Monday, which was the most recent target date for opening two lanes — one eastbound and one westbound — to traffic.

FlaglerBridgeEastboundView w600Because of a steady stream of delays, Geoffrey Parker, senior engineer with consulting firm New Millennial Engineering, said it’s likely that the opening of all four lanes, which has been scheduled for February, “won’t happen until March, or maybe even April.”
