Pension Expert Seeks Input

Town of Palm Beach contributions to the employees’ retirement system are projected to double to $14.1 million in 2015 when pensions will account for 30 percent of the Town’s payroll.  A pension consultant has been retained by the Town Council to provide new options for funding the retirement program. Palm Beach Property Owners May See a Rise in Taxes

Preliminary Palm Beach County property tax notices show a tentative increase in the tax rate.  See chart. 

In Palm Beach County, about 46 percent of residential property owners will pay more in property taxes next year under the preliminary rates.  Twenty-four of the 36 county municipalities have tentatively approved rate hikes. Seven others have agreed to leave their rates flat, including the Town of Palm Beach.  Five have agreed to lower their rates.

14.8 % Property Tax Increase Proposed in Palm Beach County

County commissioners tentatively approved a 14.8 % increase in the county's property tax rate today. They said they would spend the next two months working to cut the county's roughly $4 billion budget.
