The Town of Palm Beach Council voted today on the Fire-Rescue Union vs. Town Impasse concerning the pensions offered to Fire-Rescue employees.

The Town Council accepted Town Manager Peter Elwell's proposal and rejected most of the union counter-proposal.  Mr. Elwell recommended deep cuts, and looked for ways to keep some of the existing plans, but with a smaller multiplier, and to offer new retirement plans, similar to 401 plans in the private sector, with the Town matching the employee’s own contributions up to 4%.
