A couple of weeks ago, Congresswoman Lois Frankel was not so enthusiastic about appropriating money for the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) Bill, while in front of a group who opposes the $88.6 million Port of Palm Beach dredging project. She said there was no guarantee the money would be allocated.
The federal budget and appropriations process would determine what funding, if any, would be available for the 34 projects the WRRDA authorized the Army Corps of Engineers to work on.
The Palm Beach Civic Association wants the Port of Palm Beach to remain a niche port; and, it has every chance of success remaining just that - without industrializing the Lake Worth Lagoon and Inlet with their proposed expansion. The Civic Association believes Federal and State of Florida dollars should be spent on Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale and the Port of Miami, not the Port of Palm Beach.
