flu season

Moderately severe; that’s how Florida Surgeon General John Armstrong is describing the state’s flu season.  Armstrong says it’s been 10 years since Florida experienced a flu season this severe, and already it’s worse than last year.

Many of our visitors and seasonal residents are from New York so expect flu to expand here. This week’s headline in New York: NY declares public health emergency over flu outbreak.  In addition, they are having a flu vaccine shortage in New York.

Dr. Armstrong is reporting there is no shortage of flu vaccine in Florida and says there is still time to get the vaccine. The flu season runs from October thru May. Once you get the shot, it takes about two weeks to take effect.
