The president has left Palm Beach but will return to Mar-a-Lago next weekend for Easter.

[Friday 4/7/2017 Update]: According to the press secretary's office, on Friday President Trump will lead an "expanded bilateral meeting" with President Xi Jinping of China at 10:30 a.m. At noon, the two presidents are scheduled to have a working luncheon. Both meetings will take place at Mar-a-Lago.

President Xi Jinpin and his delegation are staying at the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa in Manalapan, seven miles south of Mar-a-Lago. Public beach parking areas and shopping center parking around the Eau Palm Beach will be taken over by the Secret Service and Palm Beach Sherrifs Department with limited public parking.

The Summit is expected to take place at Mar-a-Lago so expect road closures on A1A and nearby as motorcades travel the area.

[Town of Palm Beach News Release] -- The Town’s Police Department has been working closely with the U.S. Secret Service and the Palm Beach Sheriffs Office to coordinate and prepare for the visit of Chinese President, Xi Jinping, to Palm Beach on Thursday April 6 and Friday, April 7.

Traffic will be very heavy and delays are expected on South Ocean Blvd (south of Mar-a-Lago) as well as on Southern Blvd on these days. It’s been reported that President Xi will be staying at the Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa in Manalapan but plans to with meet with President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago on April 6 and 7.

The parking lots at Phipps Ocean Park (north and south lots) and Kreusler Park will be closed on April 6 and 7. The Phipps Tennis Center will be closed on these two days and access to the public beach will not be permitted through the parking lots.

The Town is also expecting heavy traffic in the mid-town area. We’ve been advised that there are approximately 40 buses that will be traveling with people in Town for President Xi’s visit and some are expected to come to the mid-town area.

Traffic alerts will be periodically issued for the duration of this week but the Town strongly advises that residents try to avoid traveling during the rush hours periods on April 6 and 7. The Town also encourages everyone to sign up to receive alerts, if they haven’t already done so, by following the instructions on the Town website www.townofpalmbeach.com.

U.S. Secret Service Mandating Temporary Road Closure and Adjusted Traffic Patterns Around Mar-a-Lago
Based on information provided by the Secret Service, road closures will begin at 8 AM on Thursday, April 6, 2017. The temporary road closures and adjusted traffic will be in place through Sunday evening, April 9, 2017. All forms of travel, will be prohibited on S. Ocean Blvd from the intersection of S. County Rd. to Southern Blvd. The travel restrictions will extend eastward to the Atlantic Ocean.

Kruesler Park, Phipps Ocean Park and Tennis Center will be closed to the public all day on Thursday, April 6 and Friday, April 7, 2017 to be used for equipment and personnel staging related to China’s Presidential visit.

Palm Beach announces additional road closures ahead of Trump visit

Palm Beachers can expect longer traffic delays than usual this week as the town braces for a visit from President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday and Friday.

Trump and Xi and are expected to arrive in Palm Beach sometime after 2 p.m. Thursday, when an FAA temporary flight restriction goes into effect for the airspace around Mar-a-Lago. The restriction ends at 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Xi is scheduled to leave Friday after staying at Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa in Manalapan, according to a town email alert.
