The first frost may herald the approach of winter elsewhere, but here on the island, as the thermometer drops from balmy to blissful, the forecast calls for a flurry of activities rather than snow.  Instead of bulky sweaters, sleeveless cocktail dresses are on display in shop windows. As the days grow shorter, the excitement builds.  A calendar full of events is taking shape.  Musicians are being booked, speakers are being engaged and soon, champagne will be on ice.

As always, the Palm Beach Civic Association will mix business, education, involvement and pleasure as winter residents’ return and the pace of life on the island accelerates.

Our season kicks off on Monday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. as we host a Community Forum: Undergrounding Update at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea.  Bring your questions and concerns about this looming topic.  We have invited the chair of the Underground Task Force, Jeff Smith, Town Manager Tom Bradford and Director of Public Works Paul Brazil to speak at this event, which is open to the public.
