Emergency Flagler Bridge Repairs COMPLETED

STORY UPDATE [4/11/2012 - 9:00 AM]: THE EMERGENCY REPAIRS TO THE BRIDGE WERE COMPLETED TODAY SO THE LANE WILL NOT BE CLOSED ON THE BRIDGE.

The outside eastbound lane on the Flagler Memorial Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway between the Town of Palm Beach and the City of West Palm Beach will be closed through Friday, April 13, while workers replace a span lock on the bridge due to unforeseen maintenance repairs.

This repair is not related to any work associated with the Flagler Memorial Bridge Replacement Project. Please note that this closure will not affect marine traffic. For more information, please contact Public Information Officer Tish Burgher at 954-325-8022

Civic Association Honors Heroic Couple & Others with Kunkel Awards

This year, the Raymond J. Kunkel Trustees honored five individual winners and one exceptional organization that have made significant impacts on Palm Beach. On the morning of June 30, Palm Beach police responded to reports of a burning vessel in the waters between the Florida Power & Light power plant and the Sailfish Club in the North End. The police boat Marine One arrived to find a 35-foot cabin cruiser engulfed in flames following an explosion. Two men were in the water clinging to another vessel that had come to their rescue. The rescue vessel belonged to a West Palm Beach couple, Bill and Betsy Raper, who were spending the day with their grandchildren.
